Designer's Note:

All damsels in distress long to be saved by a prince
in shining armor while at the same time longing
for self sufficient independence.
It was this perennial dichotomy that prompted the design.
The round shape metal frame emulates a lifesaver.
The cone-shaped medieval nails are symbols of
the wounds life leaves behind.
Yet, the distribution of the shards in a crown
symbolizes our triumph in life.
Because at the end,
when the separation illusion is transcended,
we are all winners.
